Behind the Scenes…

Hey Everyone! We hope that you are having a great holiday season so far!  Sorry we haven’t updated in a while. It’s been pretty busy behind the scenes here at Second Chances.  Aimee has asked Santa for a new adjustable bed to make her life easier, and Santa has been and continues to actively look for just the right bed to fulfill her wish!

The Second Chances Committee met at our bi-monthly meeting, and we’re pretty excited for a fun, busy and productive 2014! We’ve got some great events that we’ll be announcing soon, so be sure to keep checking in.  We don’t want anyone to miss out on the fun!

Also, be sure to keep your eyes peeled within the next few days for some potentially big news in our newsletter…

Thanksgiving Wishes from Aimee

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
It’s Aimee again. I wanted to take time to post on this important day. Me and the second chances team continue to be grateful every single day. But today is just another chance to shout it out.

So a Huge thank you goes out to all the second chances team, volunteers, helpers, supporters, donators, page and link sharers, event attendees, and anyone else that has any kind of contribution to the cause. We couldn’t be more grateful every day for all of you. THANK YOU!! Today I am also thankful to just be alive and not in the hospital. I hope everyone has a great day. Keep following us.

Season of Thanks

With the Christmas season fully upon us I would like to wish all of you a very happy and blessed season and hope you are able to enjoy Christmas and share the spirit of love with your families and loved ones. Never take for granted one year, one day or even one moment to share and express your love while you have the opportunity. We at Second Chances are very appreciative of the gestures of love you have bestowed on Aimee and us this year with all of your donations and everyone that has put in much time and physical effort to make our continued fundraising a success this year. We also welcome your charitable donations in the spirit of the season. We have had families and individuals send donations in lieu of exchanging a gift together and we are deeply touched. May you receive back tenfold the generosity and love your giving has bestowed. Rest assured that 100% of your donations are going directly to Aimee’s medical needs and care and that this alone has lifted a burden from her and her family. We are currently in the process of purchasing a medical bed as her lung volumes and breathing at nighttime as well as her digestion from her nighttime feeding tube will be more effective and comfortable for her with the adjustable mattress. Current donations will be contributed to this purchase.

Event Planning Update

Here is a brief update on upcoming events the committee is currently working on.

We are in the process of securing a venue for our Second Annual Need 2 Succeed Obstacle Challenge. Last year was a great success and people requested a second run. We will have some confirmations and updated status in January and will have registration set up on the event site. Please watch, stay ready and share the word with friends.

For all of you folks who LOVE our bachelor auction, we have 10 bachelors lined up for you, all of whom are firefighters!! We are in the process of meetings currently to set a date and venue. We are also working on some interesting changes that will perhaps make dates more exciting. Our thoughts at the moment are for a Valentines date.

We have also had interest expressed in the past to host a Bachelorette auction and have a few females interested in being bachelorettes. We are certainly open to hosting this event. Second Chances is committed to hosting and presenting you with quality events and we are open to and interested in your interest and feedback or comments.

We are currently working on hosting a car show for the summer. Our very first event was a car show and we were successful and very thankful to Kyle and all of the car club support we experienced. Our first venue choice was declined so we are currently in the process of securing a venue and once we have that we will post dates, etc…

Please let us know what you think worked well in the past for events and any suggestions you have that might be helpful in planning our upcoming events. We would like to plan and host events that are tasteful, fun and original for our supporters and community.

We are also open to suggestions for events and participants who would like to help contribute to events in any fashion.
